Jasper De Buyst and Elia Viviani seized power on the fifth night of the Ghent Six Days. In both Madison
races, the favourite duos offset each other, but the De Buyst-Viviani duo crossed the 300-point mark by
winning the team elimination race and jumped into the lead in the Lotto Six Days of Flanders Ghent. Their
lead over De Vylder-Van den Bossche and Hesters-Havik is tight.
Gianluca Pollefliet and Jules Hesters were the first winners on the fifth evening of the Lotto Six Days of Flanders
Ghent. The atmospheric evening was kicked off with two individual points races. Gianluca Pollefliet won the first
race, while Jules Hester took the full spoils in the second points race.
Elia Viviani and Jasper De Buyst took the lead after the team elimination race, the Memorial Eddy Verbust. The
Lotto duo took the full points there, exceeding the 200-point mark and thus scoring a winning lap. Fabio Van den
Bossche won his derny series and further limited the damage.
Tom Crabbe scored in the time trials. Together with his strong lead-out Mark Stewart, he not only took the victory
in the track race but also rode to victory in the 500m time trial, to the delight of an exuberant Ghent crowd.
During both team races of the evening, the favourites neutralised each other, just like yesterday, and there was
no separation at the top of the rankings.
Roger Kluge and Tim Torn Teutenberg were able to control the final
Madison, while Viviani and De Buyst were able to maintain their lead in the overall rankings heading into the final
day. Duos De Vylder-Van den Bossche and Hesters-Havik are close to the 300-point mark and will therefore
quickly make up a lap tomorrow.
An exciting penultimate day with an even more exciting final day to come. Who will seize power in the final of the
Lotto Six Days of Flanders Ghent tomorrow afternoon?
