Feyaerts and Bertels Retain Lead AVS Cup, New Track Record for Italians

Thor Feyaerts and Witse Bertels are still in the lead after the second night of the U23 AVS Cup. They share it with Nicolas Aernouts and Thibaut Van Damme.

Both Belgian duos have 30 points. Stan Dens and Renzo Raes complete the all-Belgian top three with six points.

Van Damme dominated in the first points race of the evening. He gathered 45 points, 11 more than German Bruno Kessler. Witse Bertels chalked up 31 points. But it was Renzo Raes who prevailed in the second points race, with 48 points, ahead of German Benjamin Boos (46), and Jarne Van Dyck (34).

Track Record

The second night ended with a time trial. In it, the Italian pair Davide Stella/Ares Costa set a new track record in 8.750, it had been held by Noah Vandenbranden and Luca Pollefliet since 16 November 2021. Kessler and Boos stopped the clock at 9.047. Dens and Raes finished third in 9.105.
