With just over a month to go before the start of the Lotto Six Days of Flanders-Ghent, the field of participants is taking shape. Olympic Champion Benjamin Thomas will defend his title at the Kuipke, while Elia Viviani will ride alongside Jasper De Buyst for the last time in Ghent.

Only 39 days to go. In the final stretch to the 84th edition of the Lotto Six Days of Flanders-Ghent, the field of participants for this cycling spectacle is taking shape. After Lindsay De Vylder, Fabio Van den Bossche and Jules Hesters confirmed their participation last month, we can again announce a number of other top riders.

Olympic Omnium Champion and defending champion Benjamin Thomas, who won last year alongside Fabio Van den Bossche, will be returning to the Kuipke from 18 to 23 November. The 30-year-old Frenchman is considered one of the most versatile track cyclists. In addition to his Olympic title in Paris, he has already won five world titles in the omnium, Madison and points race. Last year, he also won the fifth stage of the Tour of Italy.

Ciao, Elia

Elia Viviani will also be in Ghent next month. The 36-year-old Italian will compete in his final race at the Kuipke, with Lotto teammate Jasper De Buyst at his side.

The cycling world will soon say goodbye to the phenomenon on the track that is Viviani. In 2016, he became Olympic Omnium Champion in Rio. He also won bronze in that discipline (Tokyo 2021). At the 2024 Paris Games, he won silver in the Madison alongside Simone Consonni. In 2018, Viviani already won the Lotto Six Days of Flanders-Ghent. Will the Italian repeat that feat as a grand finale?

In addition to the track, Viviani also has an impressive list of achievements on the road. He has won no fewer than 90 victories, including five stages in the Giro, three in the Vuelta and one in the Tour. In 2019, he won the European title in Alkmaar, the Netherlands.
