Jules Hesters and Yoeri Havik also go into the second night as leaders of the Lotto Six Days Flanders-Ghent. The duo has 129 points. Two pairs follow in the same lap: Van den Bossche/De Vylder (119) and De Buyst/Viviani (103).
The second evening opened with two points races. After winning the opener for retiring Elia Viviani, Dutchman Philip Heijnen dominated the second race.
In the subsequent team elimination race, there was a fierce battle between the pairs Hesters/Havik and De Buyst/Viviani. Havik managed to hold off Viviani by a very small margin. No second triumph for the Italian.
In the time trial lap, Noah Vandenbranden and Gianluca Pollefliet took the honours for the second night in a row. The first part of the evening ended with a thrilling Madison. From the start, the top riders attacked each other with multiple separate attempts. Victory ultimately went to the German duo Kluge/Teutenberg, who, together with Dorenbos/Hoppezak, took a lap on the big favourites.
Kuipke on Fire
After De Romeo’s set the Kuipke on fire with a mini Schlager music festival, the engines of the dernys roared the race back into action. Hesters and De Vylder had the crowd going wild once again. In between, De Buyst won the individual elimination race.
After Noah Vandenbranden’s victory in the scratch race and an encore for Mark Stewart and Tom Crabbe in the 500 m time trial, the second night ended with a second Madison. De Buyst and Viviani concluded the evening as it had begun, with a victory.
Hesters and Havik go into the second night as leaders. The Belgian-Dutch duo has 129 points and a 10-point lead over Van den Bossche/De Vylder. De Buyst/Viviani are also still in the same lap and follow with 26 points.
