The 79th edition of the Lotto Six Days of Flanders-Ghent (12th through 17th November) will start in the Ghent Kuipke in less than one month from now. The annual high mass of track cycling can unfailingly count on an impressive contingent of participants and this year will not be any different. Iljo Keisse and Mark Cavendish are the first top duo announced by the organisation. Meanwhile, the very last tickets are selling out.
Iljo Keisse does not really need an introduction anymore. If you think of Keisse, you automatically think of the Six Days. The Deceuninck – Quick-step cyclist has already won the Lotto Six Days of Flanders-Ghent seven times and is hoping to have a shot at winning an 8th victory. Keisse will light up the Kuipke again with Mark Cavendish at his side. Keisse came second together with Cavendish once before in 2014. In 2016, ‘The Manx Missile’ won the Six Days together with Bradley Wiggins. Keisse and Cavendish instinctively understand each other. Cavendish’s victory in a number of mass sprints in the Quick-Step colours has in no small part been thanks to Keisse’s lead-outs. More names will be announced soon.
