World Champions Lindsay De Vylder and Fabio Van den Bossche have won the 2025 Lotto Six Days of Flanders Ghent. In an exciting final day, they proved to be stronger at the end van de Madison than second-placed Jules Hesters and Joeri Havik and third-placed Jasper De Buyst and Elia Viviani.
In the early stages of the final day of the Lotto Six Days of Flanders Ghent, we saw many Belgian winners. Gianluca Pollefliet and Milan Van Den Haute won the points races, while Tom Crabbe, piloted by Mark Stewart, was the fastest in the 500-metre time trial for the sixth day in a row. Later in the afternoon, they also scored six out of six in the track race.
During the derny races, we saw Jasper De Buyst beat one of the favourites, Joeri Havik. Fabio Van den Bossche proved to be faster than Benjamin Thomas and Roger Kluge behind the derny. The big duos did not drop a single point on their way to
the grand finale.
Meanwhile, we were treated to a magnificent sprint tournament won by Lowie Nulens, record attempts by Zita Gheysens and World Champion Para-Cyclist Niels Verschaeren. In between, outgoing Champion Elia Viviani was honoured in style, an emotional moment in the Kuipke, with Filippo Ganna in attendance.
On to an exciting Madison final. In the early stages, we saw 6 duos in the same lap who were able to constantly neutralise each other, but as the end approached, some duos showed signs of weakness. Jules Hesters and his Dutch teammate were in the lead going into the last 50 laps. They also scored the most points in the first sprints. The prize seemed as good as theirs, but that was without counting on the World Champions.
With 20 laps to go, Lindsay De Vylder and Fabio Van den Bossche attacked in search of the winning lap. They could no longer win on points, so it was an all-or-nothing attempt. Hesters and Havik led the peloton to prevent this from happening, but ultimately had to recognise the unleashed World Champions’ superiority. De Vylder-Van den Bossche are the winners of the 2025 Lotto Six Days of Flanders Ghent, flanked on the podium by second-placed Hesters-Havik and third- placed De Buyst-Viviani.
