Thor Feyaerts and Witse Bertels are no longer the leaders in the U23 AVS Cup. The Belgian duo had to relinquish their leaders’ position to Germany’s Bruno Kessler and Benjamin Boos after the fourth night on Friday.

With 68 points, they now have ten points and also a lap’s lead over Feyaerts and Bertels (58). Stan Dens and Renzo Raes (54) and Danish-Dutch pair Peter Bheki Laursen and Joeri Schaper (23) were also able to reduce their gap with the Germans to one lap.

After three days featuring two points races and a time trial, the first Madison was on the programme on Friday. Stan Dens and Renzo Raes grabbed the first sprint, but it was Kessler and Boos who dominated. Three pairs limited the damage to one lap, the rest fell back by two to four laps.

In the night’s second event, the track lap, Italians Davide Stella and Ares Costa were once again lords and masters. In the process, they improved their own track record. That now stands at 8.743. On Wednesday, they clocked off in 8.750, wiping the record set in 2021 by Noah Vandenbranden and Gianluca Pollefliet (8.774) off the tables.
