Nolan Huysmans and third-year young talent Thibaut Bernard are still in the lead in the U23 AVS Cup after the second evening. With 36 points, the Belgian duo is 11 points ahead of Stan Dens and Tom Crabbe. Elliot Rowe and William Salter from Great Britain moved up to third place with 22 points.

William Salter won the first points race. With 23 points, he held off Renzo Raes (20), Dutchman Elmar Abma (19) and Nolan Huysmans (13). The second points race went to Thibaut Bernard. He amassed 42 points, two more than Frenchman Mathieu Dupe. Briton Sam Fisher had to settle for third place with 33 points.

The second evening ended with a track lap time trial. As on the opening night, it went to Stan Dens and Tom Crabbe with a time of 8.792. Nolan Huysmans and Thibaut Bernard finished the distance in 8.833 and came second.

“We just fell short in the track lap but I am still very happy with our second place in that event,” Huysmans told us. “We are extending our lead and certainly can’t complain. Yesterday, we had a four-point lead, that’s now gone up to 11. We are in a strong position as a team. The Madison starts Friday. We will do well in that together. I think we are very much in tune with each other.
